Bernice Soto Cano

Bernice Soto Cano, 97, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2022. She was a devoted Catholic and had a special place in her heart for the Carmelite Sisters in Christoval, Texas. She was born October 30, 1924 in Knickerbocker, Texas to Genaro and Casiana Soto. Bernice is preceded in death by her husband, L. D. Cano, ten siblings, a son, Alex Cano, grandson, Alex de Soto Cano, and a great-grandson, Patryck Garza. Bernice is survived by her children, Lucy (Mo) Gutierrez of Mansfield, Rose (Eddie) Salcido and David Cano of San Angelo, six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, Cindy Curtis of Flower Mound whom she considered a granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews. A rosary service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Monday, February 7, 2022, at Harper Funeral Home. Funeral mass and Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Knickerbocker Catholic Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Gutierrez, Carlos Gutierrez, Nic Vasquez, Avel Sosa, and Terry Ellis.
