Carl Eugene "Gene" Fox

Carl Eugene “Gene” Fox, 80, of San Angelo, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2019. Gene was born in San Angelo on January 8, 1939 at Shannon Hospital to Charles and Monta Fox of San Angelo. Gene was one of three brothers, Kenneth “Ken” and Dan “Danny” Fox. After relocating to San Diego, CA, Gene met Carolyn Henderson while working together at Rohr Aircraft Corporation. They were married on Valentine’s Day in 1993. They moved to San Angelo in 1994 to build their home together and retire on Lake Nasworthy. They spent many wonderful years enjoying life together in the home they built overlooking the lake. Gene worked for many years as a Chemical Engineer at Whittaker Research and Development in San Diego, CA, before coming to San Angelo to oversee the plant and facility at RG Barry Corporation. He returned to San Diego in the 1980s to work in the aircraft manufacturing field. Gene liked being outdoors and enjoyed playing tennis, shooting skeet and customizing his truck “Yellow Dog”. He was mechanically talented and not afraid to tackle any project. He shared his time and energy with his friends and family and was always willing to help with any kind of construction, plumbing or automotive project. Gene is survived by his wife of over 25 years, Carolyn Fox; his children Doug and Sheila Fox of San Angelo, Susan and Rick Cochran of Kerrville, Cristina and Steve Vetrano of Houston and Kenny Henderson of San Diego; his grandchildren Amanda and Abby Cochran, Michael Fox, Victoria Henderson, Olivia Vetrano, Eli and Caleb Vetrano; Brother Dan “Danny” Fox and his wife Toni of Las Vegas, NV. Gene also had many loving nephews, nieces and friends. Gene was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Monta Fox; Brother, Kenneth “Ken” Fox. There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date for Family and Friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Gene can be made to the ALS Association, Gift Processing Center, P.O. Box 37022, Boone, IA 50037-0022. Thank you to Hospice of San Angelo for making sure Gene’s last days were peaceful.
