Emilio Garcia Balderas

April 5, 1949 — September 18, 2022

Emilio Garcia Balderas, 73, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2022, in Big Lake, Tx.

Emilio was born on April 5, 1949, in San Carlos, Coahuila, Mexico, to Eduardo Balderas and Epifania Garcia. He made Big Lake his home for the last 37 years, where he made many friends. He is currently self-employed as an Oil Rig Consultant with over 45 years of oilfield experience. Emilio took so much pride in his work and had a remarkable work ethic, but what he cherished the most was his family. Emilio married the love of his life, Cristina Villegas, on April 11, 1970, in San Carlos, Mexico. Together they formed a beautiful tight-knit family: two sons, Emilio Balderas Jr., of San Carlos and Sergio Balderas and wife Yvonne of Big Lake; three daughters, Ana Balderas and husband Saul Perez, Marisela Balderas and husband Hervey Acevedo, Jr., and Myrna Balderas and husband, Adrian Valdez all of Big Lake; His grandkids and great grandkids lit up his world. He was indeed the best “Tata” to 17 grandchildren. Not one missed out on Tata’s bareback pony rides. Grandchildren include Michael Balderas, Marcus Balderas, Matthew Balderas, Nate Balderas, Yovanie Balderas, Yulissa Balderas, Yanai Balderas, Alfonso Gallegos, Emily Granado, Cristian Gallegos, Joshua Goodloe, Andrea Goodloe, Brianna Goodloe, Christopher Valdez, Madelyn Valdez, Adalee Valdez, and Adrian Valdez; and nine great-grandchildren, Ayden, Julian, Aaron, Bryan, Galilea, Adriell, Eliana, Quintin, and Daniel. “The Legend” (as his older grandkids referred to him) also leaves two brothers, Benjamin Balderas and wife Juanita of Fort Worth, and Nicolas Balderas and wife Carmen of Brownwood; four sisters, Juanita Zavala of San Carlos, Josefa Barreles and husband Hector of Mason, Maria Vielma and husband Juan of Anahuac, and Lidia Pachecano and husband Manuel of Fort Worth. He also leaves behind a significant number of nieces and nephews who loved their “Tio Milo,” their favorite uncle, as they would say. He will always be remembered as the happy, positive, loving, and hard-working superman that he was. Always cheerful, dancing, loved music, “y un buen ambiente”! With his Dr.Pepper on hand, he was always ready to sing his heart out. Always looking out for everyone and willing to lend a hand. Emilio also had a passion for horses. El Coahuila and El Moro, were more than a hobby for him. They were his four-legged best friends. He could chat for hours about horses, and work, and ALWAYS had a positive outlook no matter what. He will be immensely missed.
