Franklin Albert "Mr. D" Devore, Sr.

Franklin Albert DeVore Sr., will forever be loved and missed. While we will no longer be able to physically touch him, his impact on his loved ones and the community is long lasting. Franklin Albert DeVore, Sr., 79, of San Angelo went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 9, 2021, in San Angelo. Franklin was born August 19, 1942, in Washington, D.C., to Holloway and Nelly Blair Kemp. He grew up in Washington, D.C. and after graduating from high school, enlisted in the United States Air Force. Franklin served his country honorably for 20 years. After retiring from the U.S. Air Force, he went to work for the U.S. Postal Service for over 20 years. He is preceded in death by his late wife, Tallie Louise DeVore. Franklin married Irene Pullen and they shared 13 beautiful years together. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who devoted his life to faith, family, community, and country. Franklin was affectionately known to everyone as “Mr.D.” and was a faithful member of Wesley Trinity Methodist Church. Franklin was also a member of numerous organizations in the San Angelo community. He was a member of the Lorenzo H. Enox Consistory #288 and the treasurer of Jackson Lodge #15. Mr. D’s giving heart, love for his family and friends, and his magnanimous smile will live on in our hearts forever. We will dearly miss him and never forget his contributions! Franklin was preceded in death by his parents, wife Tallie, and siblings; Ruby Terry, Vivian Kemp, Clarence DeVore, James DeVore, Nathan Kemp, and Wilbert Kemp. He is survived by his loving wife, Irene P. DeVore, of San Angelo and children, Angela B. Love (Kenneth) of San Antonio, Dorothy D. Dorsey (Stephan) of Kansas City, MO., Franklin A. DeVore, Jr. (Stephanie) of Corona, CA., William Jackson (Jackie) of San Angelo, and Christopher Jackson (Jennifer) of San Antonio. He leaves behind 14 grandchildren: Kevin Love, Nikki Love, Kyron Kitchen, Kiara Kitchen, Stevie Louise DeVore, Walker DeVore, Jazmine Jackson, Micaela Jackson, Coireisha Jackson, Christopher Jackson, Nikia Jackson, Brooklyn Jackson, Gianna Jackson, Adam Jackson and 13 great grandchildren. He is also loved by surviving siblings Cedric Kemp (Arsonia) of Lanham, MD, Eugene DeVore (Joan), Helen Kemp, of Ft. Washington, MD, Evangeline Marshall, of Washington, DC., Dorothy Spriggs (Ernest) of Forestville, M.D and numerous other family and close friends. The family will receive friends for visitation from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M., Friday September 17, 2021, at Harper Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be 11:00 A.M., Saturday, September 18, 2021, at The First United Methodist Church in San Angelo with Rev. Rob Marks, Jr. officiating. The burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers for the service will be John Garcia, Bruce Davison, Nathan Gray, Rob Coffield, Nate Jones and Kouveion M. Walker. Honorary Pallbearers for the service will be L.C. Cole, Albert Deshields, Al Powell, Kevin Love, Kyron Kitchen, Ryan Love, Jason Love, Shaun Horace, Walker DeVore and Mathew Love.
