H L Turnbow

H.L. Turnbow passed away Mon., Jan. 24th, 2022, at the age of 83. He was born July 23, 1938, in San Angelo, Tx to Eldon & Zora Frances Pool Turnbow, but was raised in Eldorado, Tx. After graduating from Eldorado High School, he went on to business school in Abilene, Tx. He later attended Angelo State University graduating from Midland College. H.L. married the love of his life Dixie Carol Harris Turnbow on Dec. 26th, 1958, at Immanuel Baptist Church in San Angelo, Tx. H.L. & Dixie moved to Ozona, Pecos and Moab Utah for seismograph work. They had two sons, Landy Turnbow and Leland Turnbow. H.L retired from San Angelo Fire Department as Captain after thirty-four years of service. He was an instructor for Texas A&M, teaching repelling and vertical rescue for several years. He had a love for life and everything outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman providing food for his family. He loved working and spending time with his family & friends. He also had a love for cars, trucks, off road vehicles and motorcycles. One of his favorite past times was his annual fishing trips to Lake Amistad with some of his closest friends, sons and grandkids. He is survived by his wife Dixie Turnbow of San Angelo, sons Landy Turnbow & wife Margaret of Forney, Tx, Leland Turnbow & wife Theresa of San Angelo, Tx, grandchildren Landa Pustejovsky and husband Brad, Mitch Daniels, Camille Daniels, Shay Turnbow, Hunter Turnbow & wife Stephanie, Henry Leighton Turnbow, seven great grandchildren and one sister Marie Prine of Kerrville. He was preceded in death by his parents, father & mother-In-Law Zeke & Celia Wayne Harris and one granddaughter Shelby Turnbow. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring at West Texas Game Feeders, San Angelo, Tx.
