Jimmie Brenek, a long-time resident of Vancourt, died peacefully on Tuesday, October 25, 2022. He was born on April 2, 1940, in San Angelo to the late Alfonse & Albina Brenek. Jimmie graduated from San Angelo High School and began his life long love of farming cotton & milo.
Jimmie’s early jobs included driving a school bus and working at the Wall Co-op Gin as a ginner. Jimmie served many leadership roles which include Tom Green County Farm Bureau President and member of the Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Rancher Committee, Wall Brethren Church President of the Board and Elders and Auction Committee, Doole Water Board President, and board member of Wall Co-op Gin. Jimmie was awarded the San Angelo Outstanding Conservation Farmer Award which he valued greatly. Jimmie enjoyed fishing and hunting and was actively involved with the Tractor Puller Association.
Jimmie is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Dorothy Brenek; four children, Annette DeFrees and husband Larry of Hewitt, Allen Brenek of Wall, Janet Molder and late Rick Molder of Wall and Jean Brenek of Vancourt; Grandchildren Justin Russell of Midland Odessa, Ashley Gillham and husband Lin of Georgetown, Morgan Gliha and husband Joey of Belton, Tyler Molder of San Angelo, Mason Molder of Midland Odessa, Ricky Molder of the Valley, Lt. Colonel Nic of Washington, DC, and Jamie Molder of Virginia, Jacelyne Kort of San Angelo. Great grandchildren include Tatum Huff of Vancourt, Tripp and Wesson Gliha of Belton, Xavier Molder of the Valley and Cohen and Jensen Molder of Virginia. Jimmie’s brothers Lynn and Shirley Brenek of Doole and Larry Brenek of Wall, and nephew’s Kevin Brenek of San Angelo and Cody Brenek of San Angelo.
Jimmie started his own farming business with the help of his friends from Tennessee, Chon, Fred, Robert, Pablo, Martin Jr, Greg, Tyler, Mason, Justin, Josh, Terry, Oscar, Elder, Christian, and Gary.
Funeral arrangements have been made at Harper Funeral Home. Services will be held at Wall Brethren Church on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at 10:00am with burial to follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to thank the staff of Sagecrest Alzheimer’s Care Center of San Angelo and Hospice of San Angelo for their care.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wall Brethren Church or a charity of choice.
