Linda Gay Needham (Sawyer) Fuchs

November 14, 1939 — September 6, 2023

Linda (Sawyer) Fuchs, of San Angelo, passed away on September 6, 2023 at the age of 83. She was born on November 14, 1939, along with her twin brother Roger, in Abilene, TX, to parents Gaston and Vera Needham.

Linda married William Raworth Sawyer on August 14, 1959. They would have three children, William L. Sawyer, Marian G. Sawyer, and Kelly K. Sawyer, and later she would happily welcome her granddaughters, Morgan E. and Kayli A. Sawyer. Her husband, Billy Ray (as she referred to him) began a career in the Border Patrol and, as such, they were stationed in El Paso, Fort Stockton, Sanderson, and their last duty station in San Angelo, TX, where they retired.

Billy Ray passed away in September 2002 after a 7-year battle with cancer. Linda would continue, serving as a volunteer at many functions of her church, Holy Angels Catholic church, and the San Angelo community in general. She had a special place in her heart with Mosaic, having been employed with them, and with her daughter Marian being a client (Marian passed away in March 2016). Besides her being a volunteer, Linda continued to work in her yard and garden, and of course, her beautiful rose bushes. These were the things that brought her joy, and of course her family.

In March 2017, Linda married Harvey J. Fuchs, whose wife, Marcy, had also passed from cancer years prior. It has been stated by many that the Polka dance world has never been the same, since those two hit the scene. She also developed a passion for clogging during this time. Anywhere, anytime, she could be found on some type of dance floor (clogging or polka) or managing her yard and garden, and of course, the roses.

As time progressed, she and Harvey moved to Rio Concho West where they have been until this time. Her days of clogging and polka dancing had come to an end, but they enjoyed their time together going to church, or just driving around the countryside. Of course, they also enjoyed watching the San Angelo Central bobcats play football and were even rumored to have been Dallas Cowboy fans. She and Harvey loved all their family members, their grandkids, and great grand kids. God and family were #1 in their world.

Rest in peace Linda, beloved daughter, wife, mother and friend, until we meet again! Well done good and faithful servant. Grace and peace to all!
