Lucius Lynn "Boone" Stokes

Lucius Lynn “Boone” Stokes, 91, from Big Lake, Texas, passed away on March 7, 2021 in San Angelo, Texas. He was born August 16, 1929 to Altus Thompson Stokes and Corinne Wood Stokes in Runnels County, Texas. He married Joyce Nunn on August 2, 1952 in Big Lake. He is survived by his wife Joyce; daughter Lynda Johnson and husband Duane; son Tom Stokes and wife Donna Lynn; two granddaughters Shelby Bynum and husband Cole and Kelsey Smith and husband Todd; and two great grandchildren Lottie and Bode Bynum. He is also survived by a sister, Frances Roach, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; son L. Lynn Stokes, Jr.; and sister Nancy Nienstedt. Boone was a member of Community Baptist Church, Big Lake, Texas, and served on the Reagan County School Board in the 1970’s. He was a lifelong rancher and was always willing to lend a helping hand. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Old Runnels Cemetery near Ballinger, Texas. John Sparks will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West Texas Boys Ranch, 10223 Boys Ranch Road, San Angelo, Texas 76904 or to a favorite charity. The family would like to thank Andy Jimenez and Daisy Ornelas, Randy and Debra Waterhouse and Jermey and Jennifer Sparks for their loving care and friendship to Boone the last years of his life.
