Millard Francis McAfee, 86, passed away May 2, 2016, in San Angelo. Visitation will be on Thursday May 5, 2016 at Harper Funeral Home from five o’clock to seven o’clock. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at seven with Rev. Tom Barley. Guests are invited to attend if they wish. The funeral Mass will be held Friday, May 6. 2016 at two o’clock at Sacred Heart Cathedral with Rev. Tom Barley as celebrant. The burial will be held immediately following the funeral at Fairmount Cemetery. Millard was burn on May 16, 1929 in Valley Falls Kansas. His parents were Troy and Marie Cecelia Vanhole McAfee. He attended a catholic parochial school in grades one through eight. He went to St. Joseph’s College and Military Academy in Hays, Kansas in grades nine through twelve. He attended Kansas State College in Manhattan, Kansas for two years. He married Irene Judith Kippas in November 1948. From this union were born five children. In December 1949 Millard and Irene came to San Angelo when Raymond Kippes, father of Irene and uncle of Omer Dreiling asked to join their family business, San Angelo By-Products. He worked in the business here until 1979. Millard and Irene, Omer and Virginia enjoyed many years doing business together. Millard married Elta Joyce Murphey Nickel May 24, 1980. They had thirty-six wonderful years together. He then bought Rendering and Hide businesses in Amarillo, Texas, Roberts, Idaho, and Salt Lake City, Utah. They traveled and enjoyed entertaining business associates. While at home they loved being with their family and friends. He served on the board of the National Renderer’s Association, the National Hide Association, The Texas Renderer’s Association, the West Texas Boys Ranch of San Angelo. Millard loved to work at his businesses or at the ranch. Work was fun for him. He was a member of Sacred Heart Cathedral and Holy Angels Church. Millard is survived by his wife Elta Joyce; his children: Michael Francis McAfee of San Antonio, Cynthia Jean McAfee Gill of San Angelo, Shawn Louise McAfee Nishimura of San Angelo and Kathleen Suzanne McAfee of Austin. His grandchildren are John Russell Gill and, Tara, Seth, Trina and Teresa Nishimura. His brother Pete McAfee of Hays, Kansas. Preceding him in death are his parents, his son Richard John McAfee his brothers Ramey, Troy, Charlie, sisters Mary Ann Eakins and Diane Cecelia McAfee. The pall bearers are Billey Briley, Butch Aldrich, David Byrd, John Childers, Vernon Fritze, Jamie Zitnic, Ronnie Meine, Ramero Valedez, John Russell Gill, and Seth Nishimura.
