'Scotty' or Scott Medanich of San Angelo, passed away peacefully at home, in his sleep on May 18th, at the age of 76. He was born March 17, 1945 in Pecos, TX, to Charles and Phyllis (Scott) Medanich. Scotty was 1 of 4 brothers - Chuck (Charles), Ted (Theodore), and Roger. He attended Pecos High School where he was an avid athlete. He received an athletic scholarship to Baylor University, where he attended and played football until moving on to Lubbock. He began his career in Lubbock where he worked in real estate development for many years. He then moved on to San Angelo where he worked in sales and advertising until he retired. Scotty had a few hobbies, but if you knew him at all, you knew of his passion for arrowheads and Native American relics. He found such joy in observing God’s majesty in nature. Any given day, you could catch him bird watching or admiring any vibrant wildflowers. He participated in many ministries and volunteer organizations throughout his life. He was active in Emmaus for nearly 20 years, and faithfully met every Friday morning with an amazing group of men, the Hounds of Heaven. He served as a Gideon for nearly 10 years, and held the position of camp President in San Angelo at the time of his passing. Scotty is survived by his beloved wife Beth and her 3 kids who Scott claimed as his own. Scott also had 2 sons Michael and Monty from a previous marriage. Among the 5 siblings, there are a total of 7 grandkids and 3 great grandkids. Two of Scotty’s brothers are still living, Ted and Roger. Their oldest brother, Chuck passed away in 2012. Chuck’s only child, Lori Bigham was very special to her Uncle Scott. Scotty had a black lab named Bella who was his constant companion for years, until her passing in 2018. A celebration of Scotty’s life will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church on June 26th at 10AM. Brother Jim Wilkerson will pastor the service. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations in his name to the San Angelo Gideon camp at https://www.sendtheword.org/.
