Shontez Lamont Montgomery

Shontez Lamont Montgomery was born to Marilyn Montgomery Moore and Norman E. Owens, Jr. Shontez started his education in East St. Louis, Illinois. He moved to San Angelo, Texas in 1990 where he continued his education at Glenmore Elementary, Edison Jr. High and Central High School. After graduating from high school. Shontez went into the United States Navy. He decided to further his education and enrolled in Kapland University. Shontez was on the Dean’s honor list 4 times and received the President’s certificate of honors twice. He worked at Mathis Sports and Fitness Center on Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Angelo, Texas. Shontez united with the San Angelo Greater I.M.E. under the leadership of Pastor Joseph Suitors. He loved wrestling and joined the ACW wrestling team wrestling under the name “Shawn Vexx.” On May 1, 2021 at 2:00 A.M. at Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo, God called Shontez home to receive his wings. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, David Sr. and Alvester Montgomery and Charlotte Owens; his son, Shontez Lamont Montgomery, Jr., his aunt, Alice Hobert, and uncle, David Montgomery, Jr. He leaves to mourn, his daughter, Lashonda Patrice Montgomery, of San Angelo; his Mother and Stepfather, Marilyn Montgomery Moore and Larry Moore, of San Angelo; his Father, Rev. Norman E. Owens, Jr. of St. Louis, MO; his “Paw-Paw,” Rev. Norman E. Owens, Sr., of Dallas, TX; his brother, Rev. Michael Owens, of Bellville, IL; his Sister, Amber Owens, of St. Louis, MO; his uncles, Larry (Beatrice) Montgomery, of San Angelo, Arthur Montgomery, of San Angelo, Rev. Michael Owen, of Fairview Heights, IL; and his aunt, Phyllis Johnson, of Dallas, TX; one niece and a host of cousins and friends. The family will receive friends for visitation from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M., Friday, May 7, 2021 at Harper Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be 12:00 P.M. Saturday, May 8, 2021 at St. Paul Baptist Church in San Angelo. Interment will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Shontez will be truly missed by family and friends!
