Albina Holik Plagens

Albina Holik Plagens, of Wall, passed away on November 4, 2018 at the age of 94. She was born on September 28, 1924 in Rowena TX to parents Frank and Albina Ripple Holik. Albina was born and raised on a cotton farm outside Rowena. She was the sixth of eight children. She graduated from Ballinger High School in 1942. Soon after that the Holik family moved to the Wall community to expand their farming interests. Albina loved to help with the various farm activities as well as the household chores. In 1946 she met the love of her life, Milton Plagens. On December 20, 2017, Albina and Milton celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. Albina was involved in several community activities. As a member of the Wall Brethren Church, she served as a Sunday School and VBS teacher, a sponsor for the Brethren Youth Fellowship, and was a loyal member of the Wall Christian Sisters. Also, she was active in the Wall PTA and enjoyed serving as a room mother. Albina enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren's sporting events and various school activities. She loved to cook for family gatherings, especially her homemade rolls and chicken noodle soup. She took great pride in being a homemaker. She loved to raise vegetable and flower gardens. She is preceded in death by her parents Frank and Albina Holik; Husband Milton Plagens, Sr.; Brothers Frank Holik, Jr., Stanley Holik, Walter Holik, and Eddie Holik; Sisters Georgia Riemenschneider and Libby Dusek; and Great Grandchild Eli Plagens Survivors include three children Milton A. Plagens Jr. and wife Linda, Brenda Sue Thomas and husband Larry, Dr. Leslie F. Plagens and wife Camille; Grandchildren Richard Milligan and wife Chris Lee, Joseph Thomas and wife Cristi, Julie Barnes and husband Charles, Kyle Plagens and wife Ryan, Chase Plagens and wife Tiffany, Lauren Stegemoller and husband Justin; Great Grandchildren Iris Milligan, Matthew Milligan, Skylar Alwin, Austin Alwin, Shauna Barnes, Peyton Plagens, Easton Plagens, and Landry Plagens; Sister Marcella Carpenter; Sister in Laws Georgia Plagens, Leigh Plagens, Lynn Plagens, Bernadette Plagens, Wanda Holik, Cathy Plagens and husband Franklin, Sheila Plagens and husband Earl, and Cathy Plagens and husband Robert; and numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held at Harper Funeral Home, Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A funeral service at Wall Brethren Church, Wednesday, Nov. 7th at 10:00 AM with burial to follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. The family wishes to thank the staff of Brookdale Assisted Living, Encompass Home Health, and Kindred Hospice for their care. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wall Brethren Church or a charity of choice.
