Bert Sims Carter Brewer

Bert Sims Carter Brewer, 97, passed away on January 3, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on July of 1927, in Veribest, Texas, to J. H. and Onie Sims. Bert graduated from Central High School and attended Texas Tech University.

Bert married Nick Carter in 1945, and they had two children, Jim Carter and Janis Raynor. After Nick’s passing in 1965, she married Dick Brewer in 1971, and they were together until his death in 2000.

Bert was a long-time member of Sierra Vista United Methodist Church. She was known for her love of cooking, sewing, and traveling the world. She also enjoyed playing bridge and was a past Queen of Ziphron Temple #100 with the Daughters of the Nile.

Bert is survived by her son, Jim Carter of Comfort, TX; daughter, Janis Raynor of Virginia; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025, from 5:00 to 6:00 PM at Harper Funeral Home. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Sierra Vista United Methodist Church, with burial to follow at Fairmount Cemetery.
