Bettie Jeane Olsak

November 11, 1928 — January 29, 2018

Our beloved mother, Bettie Jeane Morris Olsak (89) passed away January 29, 2018 in her life long hometown of San Angelo, Texas. She was born to Lloyd and Velma Morris on November 11, 1928. Bettie attended school in Santa Rita, San Angelo High School and San Angelo College. After meeting Clovis Olsak on a blind date, they were married January 29, 1948, exactly 70 years ago. While Supporting Clovis through his years at Texas A&M, she became a staunch Aggie supporter. Upon Returning to San Angelo, she embraced a full and active life making a warm, welcoming home for Clovis, their three daughters and anyone else that came into her social or extended family sphere. She participated with Clovis in his farming and ranching operations even later serving as a board member of Texas Pecan Growers Association. At First Methodist Church where she and Clovis were active Bayith Class Members she served as a Sunday School teacher and was one of the longest continuous members of that church. She helped her daughters through school as a Santa Rita PTA member, as Girl Scout Troop leader, as active parent to any and all school functions and as supporter of advanced college educations. In her professional career she served as telephone operator and receptionist at “M” System Food Stores, as Vice President of Marketing at City Savings and Loan and finally as Vice President of Marketing at Tom Green Bank of which Clovis was a founding member. Her volunteer activities were many and varied; she was involved with San Angelo Convention and Visitors Bureau, San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo, ASU Foreign Students Host Assoc and ASU Alumni Board of which she and Clovis were co-recipients of Golden Exes of the year. She enjoyed any and all social activities that allowed her to meet and connect with people including dancing, bridge, shopping, watching sporting events for her Aggies, Dallas Cowboys or favorite local baseball teams, and either participating in or helping organize any family events or reunions. Without any doubt her family was her primary focus and joy. With Clovis, they had a family of three daughters, then welcomed three granddaughters. In Later year, they were excited to see lineage of four great grandsons with a fifth on the way. A recent written quote from Bettie “My marriage to a wonderful man, father, and husband gave me a wonderful life with a loving family.” She was beautiful woman whose beauty extended all the way to her soul. She will be greatly remembered and missed. She was preceded in death 4 years ago by her husband Clovis Harvey Olsak. She is survived by three daughters: Cindy Hanks and Stephanie Sayers (Chip) of San Angelo, and Connie Langlais (Dave) of Keller, TX. Also 3 granddaughters: Courtney Turpin and Lindsey Trojcak-Lopez of Ft. Worth and Kimberly Jones of San Angelo, and 4 great grandsons: Grant, Jace, Maddux, and Hunter.
