Billy M. “Bill” Young passed from this life on February 6, 2025. He was born on October 17, 1932, near the small town of Coward, South Carolina. Bill had retired from the United States Air Force after serving 21 years and attaining the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. His overseas assignments were in France and Puerto Rico but also had several state side assignments including his last assignment at the Pentagon in Washington, DC.
After his retirement from the Air Force in 1972, he and his family moved to Pineville, Louisiana where he went into ranching. After six years of ranching, he and his wife moved to San Angelo, Texas, where they had met in 1952.
Bill returned to college in 1979 at Angelo State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1981. He became a master Mason in 1959 and is Past Master of San Angelo Masonic Lodge 570. He also served as District Deputy Grand Master of District 77 in the year 2000.
Bill is survived by one son Mark and daughter-in-law Kymm of Ballinger, Texas; a daughter Vikki and son-in-law Ron Hale of Montogomery, Texas; a daughter Valli and son-in-law Larry Peacher of Bentley, Louisiana; and daughter Venetia Young of San Angelo; granddaughters Amanda, Christy, and Stacy; and grandsons Brandon, Landon and Taylor; and numerous great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Doris Jeannette Taylor Young.
He expressed his desire that his friends remember him as he was in life and requested there be no public funeral or memorial service.
