Charles William Ellwood II, 70, of San Angelo went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 8, 2018 in San Angelo, Texas. Charlie was born March 10, 1947 in Sinton, Texas to Charles and Edith Ellwood. He attended school in Sinton and graduated from Sinton High School in 1965. Charlie went on to attend R.O.T.C. at Southwestern University in San Marcos, TX. He then served his country honorably in the United States Air Force for many years. He often said, “I joined the Air Force to see the world and I saw Big Spring and Lubbock, TX.” He met his wife Velma Jo while stationed in Lubbock. They were married in September of 1972. Their eldest son William was born in Lubbock. They moved to Iraan, TX., in 1976 and later their youngest son Russell Alan was born there. Charlie worked for Marathon Oil company for 23 years and retired. Upon retirement, he and Jo moved to San Angelo where Charlie worked at several jobs, including, McCoy’s Building Supply, Shaffer Funeral Home at Grape Creek and the San Angelo Inn in maintenance. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, and one son, Russell Alan. He is survived by his wife, Jo, of San Angelo; his son, William Ellwood (Brittany), of Cypress, TX; two sisters, Malinda Crow (Nolen) and Susan Beckett (Alan), of Round Rock, TX; his brother David Ellwood (Molly), of Boerne, TX; his Granddaughter, Vivienne Ellwood, of Cypress, TX; and 5 nieces. The Memorial Service will be 2:00 P.M., Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Harper Funeral Home with Boyd Jennings officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
