Cleo Averille Lane Stroman

November 6, 1924 — December 9, 2016

Cleo Averille Lane Stroman arrived at her eternal home on December 9, 2016. She and her twin sister Carmen were born at home on Cow House Creek in Coryell County to Mamie Opal Short and Walter Averille Lane. She grew up on various farms in west Texas and graduated from Bronte High School. Cleo went on to get an associate degree from San Angelo College. She was a secretary for W. A. Stroman at Stroman Abstract and Title Company where she met the love of her life, William James (Jim) Stroman. They were married June 16, 1944 and began an adventurous life of ranching in Real, Pecos, and Lampasas Counties while raising 3 children. Cleo is survived by Bill (Twister) Stroman and wife Sue of Sterling County Texas, Phyllis Stroman Youngdahl and husband Stephen of Spicewood, Texas, Joseph Averille Stroman of Austin, Texas, 5 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. Cleo was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Ralph, Stanley, and George Lane, sister Carmen Huling, husband of 64 years Jim and infant son Walter Lane Stroman. Cleo was known for her beautiful smile, her sweet, gentle demeanor and her love of family. We thank the Lord for her wonderful life. A graveside service will be held at Fairmount Cemetery Tuesday, December 13th at 11 A.M. Memorials may be made in her honor to the charity of your choice.
