Deacon Reinaldo Ramirez

January 8, 1942 — September 30, 2017

Deacon Reinaldo Ramirez, 75, of San Angelo went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 30, 2017 in San Angelo surrounded by his loving family. Reinaldo was born January 8, 1942 in Coleman, Texas. He grew up in Coleman and graduated from Coleman High School. As a young man he was active in the Boy Scouts of America and was an Altar Server at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He worked on the Taylor Ranch from the age of 14 and he also worked as a mechanic for Volkswagen, and for the Santa Fe Railroad. He married Frances Frausto on July 9, 1968 and they shared 49 beautiful years together. He and Frances moved to San Angelo in 1969, and went to work for Ethicon. Reinaldo retired from there in 2005. He served his country honorably in the reserves for United States Army National Guard. Reinaldo had a passion for learning and loved reading anything of interest to him. In his spare time, he enjoyed being with his family and watching football. His greatest passion, however, was being at church and serving others. Reinaldo was a man of great faith and was ordained a Deacon in 2004. He had a great love for his parish family at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church where he served as a Deacon and as a catechist. He taught R.C.I.A. and religious education (CCD), for many years. Reinaldo also served as a core member of the SEARCH team for over 27 years. His love for serving in his church and his community was only surpassed by his love for his Lord and Savior and his cherished family. Reinaldo was a loving husband, father, grandfather, Deacon and friend to all and he will dearly be missed by all who knew him! He was preceded in death by his Mother, Aurora Ramirez. He is survived by his wife Frances Ramirez, of San Angelo; his daughters, Rachel Gandar and her husband Joe, and Becky Hernandez and her husband Greg, all of San Angelo; and his Grandchildren, Isiah Gandar, Ava Gandar, Sienna Hernandez and Evan Hernandez. He is also survived by his brother deacons in the Diocese of San Angelo and all the members of his beloved St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. The Vigil for Reinaldo, including Rosary, will be 6:00 P.M., Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass will be 10:00 A.M., Thursday, October 5, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum. Pallbearers for the Service will be Joe Gandar, Isiah Gandar, Greg Hernandez, Evan Hernandez, Ruben Frausto and Dennis Sanchez. The family wishes to extend their sincerest thanks and appreciation to Dr. Ty Hughston and all the nursing staff at Shannon Medical Center.
