Donald Ray Boulter, 78, of San Angelo, Tx. passed away Sat., March 11, 2017 at a local hospital surrounded by loving family & friends.` He was born in Pecos, Tx. June 24, 1938 to Albert V. & Dessie Loue Roulston Boulter. Ray served in the US Army, from 1958-1961, and was stationed in Germany in 1959-60. He started his retail career with Woolworths, later managing Star Discount Center in Borger, TX, before moving on to manage Gibsons Discount Center in Midland, Odessa, and El Paso, TX. For about 20 years he worked as a Trainer/Coordinator Supervisor and Speaker for Town and Country Food Stores in San Angelo, writing the training program for the Company. He always said he would have taught for free, he loved it so much. He retired in 2006 and wrote several books, including a few books of his own poems. Aside from writing his books, Ray also gave many speeches to groups of people during his lifetime, always loving what he was doing and doing what he loved. Two days before he got sick, he finished his final book, a book about the Western life of a Cowboy in the 1800’s. He won awards in HS for UIL Speeches, and it was through his Pecos HS English teacher, Mrs. Turk, that he got his love of writing and speaking. He was a proud Pecos Eagle of the class of 1957 and was planning their 60 year reunion for later this year. Ray & Jo Ann would have been married 58 years on March 27, 2017. He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann (Pouns) Boulter, daughters, Kathy Boulter & Patti Boulter Hunt (Jim). Also, surviving are his grandson, Justin Hunt & granddaughter, Rebecca Hunt Bibbs (Chris) and great-grandson, Isaiah. One brother, Alfred (Bill) Boulter (Anita) and sister-in-law, Kay Boulter. Many nieces, nephews & cousins. He was preceded in death by daughter, Kim Boulter. Also, parents, Albert & Dessie. His brother, Roy Wayne Boulter & Albert (Al) V. Boulter. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Goldston Sunday School Class from First Christian Church. The visitation will be at Harper Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. The Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at the First Christian Church with the Rev. Ben G. Hubert officiating. Interment will be private. He was a Mighty Pecos Eagle, flying high to that mountaintop. He fought a good fight, he finished his course, and now he is getting his eternal reward.
