Ernest Carroll Swafford, Sr., 88, of San Angelo went to be with his Maker Sunday, December 6, 2015. Born in Hobart, Oklahoma on April 16, 1927 to Asa and Edna Swafford, and raised in Marshall, Texas. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Alta Swafford, and two siblings, Clifford Swafford, and Glenn Swafford and wife Jenny. Ernest was a Navy man who served his country for two years during World War II at Pearl Harbor when he was 17 years old. Ernest retired from Phillips Petroleum as a driller and finally retired from Schneider Butane before settling in, at his farm north of town. Ernest is survived by his son, Carroll Swafford and wife Dallas, and son Tommy Swafford and wife Linda. His grandchildren Bryan Swafford, Suzanne Swafford, Robert Swafford, Nolan Swafford and Robbie Joe Swafford. Ernest was a devout Christian and raised Baptist. He spent untold hours helping the Baptist church and members in any way he could-after all, he never met a stranger. The family would like to thank his doctor, Dr. Peter Chang, Jenni Price at Hospice of San Angelo, and everyone at Senior Care of San Angelo who provided loving care for him and are still caring for our mother. God rest his soul. An informal visitation will be held from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 9, at Harper Funeral Home, 2606 Southland Blvd. Family and friends are invited to share condolences for Ernest Carroll Swafford’s Family at www.harper-funeralhome.com.
