Evelyn Adeline Hejl left this earth January 9, 2018, fully confident of a new life with her Savior and those who preceded her. Mom was born November 3, 1921 to John and Frances Laza in Runnels County. She was part of a close and loving family. They moved to their farm between Mereta and Eola while she was young. She was a graduate of Eola High School in 1939. Our father, Raymond Hejl, came into Mom’s life and they were married after WWII on December 8, 1946. Born to Mom and Dad were one daughter Jean and three sons, John, James, and David. They moved to and farmed in the Fairview community from 1954 to 1968. In 1968 Mom and Dad moved to Austin, Texas. They retired to the Fairview Community in 1985. Our Mom was a very kind and loving person. She knew that God’s creatures were important to mankind. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Ray, in 1986. She is survived by daughter Jean and husband Don Zappone; son John and wife Sandee; son James and wife Judy; and son David and wife Sharon. Grandchildren are John Zappone, Marisa Olsson, Alicia Gostylo, Jayme Hejl, Matthew Hejl, Katie Hejl, Travis Hejl, and Steven Hejl. Great Grandchildren are Naomi and Sadie Gostylo; Maddie Hejl; and Annabeth Olsson. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 11, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Harper Funeral Home. Services will be Friday, January 12, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Wall Brethren Church with burial to follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
