Foster Lee Ditmore

Foster Lee Ditmore went home with the angels on March 18, 2021 surrounded by family at his home Foster was born March 21, 1939 in San Angelo, Texas to Claude and Louise Ditmore. He graduated from Water Valley High School in 1957. He attended Hardin Simmons University in Abilene TX before being drafted into the Army as a Heavy Equipment Truck Driver. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and Expert Rifle (M-14) during his service in Germany. He received his discharge orders in 1965. He met the love of his life, Thelma Gandy Ditmore, in Fort Worth, Texas and they were married in January 1966. Upon returning to Water Valley, Foster and his father ran a water hauling service for construction sites across Texas. He started work with the Texas Highway Department in September, 1969 as a Maintenance Technician and retired from the Texas Department of Transportation in October, 1994. He enjoyed participating in the Cowboy Action Shooting and was a member of the Big Lake Chapter of The American Legion and later transferred to the San Angelo Chapter. He is survived by his wife, Thelma of San Angelo, son, Charles Ditmore and wife, Diane, son Dewayne Ditmore of Water Valley, a daughter, Cynthia Haass and husband, Marvin, grandchildren, Morgan Ditmore of College Station, Haley Ditmore of San Angelo and Jakob Haass of San Angelo, special extended family – Shawna Ditmore of Lubbock, David & April Hinojos and family of San Angelo, Dana Rodriguez and family of Carrollton, KY, and cousins, nieces & nephews. There are many neighbors and friends that hold a special place also. He was preceded in death by his parents and cousin, Charlie Ditmore. Family visitation will be at Harper Funeral Home on March 21, 2021 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Graveside services will be at Water Valley Cemetery on March 22, 2021 at 2:00 pm. Friends are encouraged to sign the guest book at Harper Funeral Home and any remembrances may be made to West Texas Rehab or your favorite charity. The family wishes to thank Brad, Alba and Mike along with the entire staff of St. Gabriel’s Hospice for their compassionate care of both Foster and his family.
