Gary Derrick

Gary Randel Derrick was born November 20, 1949 in El Paso, Texas to Howard and Faye Dell Derrick. At age 2, Gary won the El Paso Big Baby Award weighing in at 32 pounds. Gary graduated from Eldorado High School in 1968 where he played football, basketball and ran track. He attended college at Colorado State University, Texas Tech University, and Texas A&M University. He ranched for many years in Sutton, Schleicher and San Saba counties. Gary loved golfing, spending time with family and friends and he especially loved an evening drive around the ranch with his adored Yorkie, Emmy Jo. Gary was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Faye Powell Ball, and his father and best friend, Howard C. Derrick. Gary is survived by his mother, Faye Dell Derrick, and his family: Trouba, Jennifer, Christopher, Kimberly, Max, and Will Derrick; Julie, Troy, and Morgan Gilger; and his sister Linda Williams. Gary has many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends that he cherished. A Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday June 9th, 2017 at Harper Funeral Home.
