On January 28, 2016, Heaven received a very special man, Gerald Alfred Wyatt (83), who lost his battle with Lewy Body Dementia. He was born July 13, 1932 in Fargo, North Dakota to Bowden George Wyatt and Margaret Haagenson Wyatt. Gerry grew up in Sabin, Minnesota where his father and grandfather ran a general store. Tutored by grandma and a great aunt, Gerry was advanced for his age, graduating Salutatorian in 1950. Because his father observed his interest in how things ran and were put together, he encouraged Gerry to pursue a career in engineering. Gerry received a Mechanical Engineering degree with honors from North Dakota Agricultural College (now North Dakota State University) in 1954. Gerry was a member of Pi Tau Sigma, Tau Beta Pi and Phi Kappa Phi engineering fraternities. Immediately following graduation he married Florine Miller and received his commission as 2nd Lieutenant in the Air Force after having served in AFROTC. After serving in the continental U.S., Gerry returned to civilian life working for General Mills and 3M Corporation where he earned numerous patents while working in the 3M Electrical Products Division in St. Paul, Minnesota and later in Austin, Texas. In 1972, Florine passed away leaving Gerry a widower with 3 daughters and one son. The next year he married Joy Bolin Moore, a widow with 3 daughters and one son, who Gerry had partnered with in The Big Brother/Big Sister organization. To this marriage was born one son: thus “Yours, Mine and Ours”. In 1995, Gerry retired from 3M Corporation after 33 years. This gave him even more time to enjoy his many hobbies such as being a private pilot, artist, pianist and guitarist. He was known for his collections which included antique cars, antique boat motors, lanterns, books on aviation and WWII. He and the family enjoyed summers in Minnesota at the family cabin with abundant nature, fishing and boating. Being community minded he had always participated in organizations like Meals on Wheel, Hospice, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, community organizations and was Charter member and Elder of Presbyterian Church of the Way in Shoreview, Minnesota. After Joy passed away in 2000, he married Karen Smart Mosley who grew up in San Angelo. As his health began to fail they moved from the Austin area to San Angelo. Gerry is survived by his wife, Karen, and children: Angela Wyatt and husband Kurt Kimber, Kathy Wyatt, Jonathan Wyatt, Karri Moore Schuck and husband Greg, Clifford Moore and wife Shari all of Minnesota, Jennifer Wyatt Vaughan and husband Charlie of Wisconsin, Kelly Moore Gibson, Michael Mosley and wife Nicole, Rhea Ann Mosley Loganbill and husband Brent all of Texas, Christopher Wyatt of Florida and Kandra Moore Foulcer and husband Jason of Kent, England. He also has numerous grandchildren (Clay and Sam Kimber, Parker, Dominic and Alexis Schuck, Kevin and Anna Moore, Tim and Gerry Vaughan, Travis (Saraya) and Austin Gibson, Tarryn, Alyssa, Daniel and Caleb Mosley, Jacob Loganbill, Caitlin Sullivan, and Caleb Wyatt). A memorial service and internment is planned for a later date in St. Paul, Minnesota. The family wishes to thank Sagecrest Alzheimer’s Care Center for their loving care his last year on earth. Memorials should be sent to Texas Tech University HSC, Garrison Institute on Aging, 3601 4th Street MS 9424, Lubbock, Texas 79430 or the Lewy Body Dementia Association.
