Gracie Bell Barnes Whitlock

Gracie Bell Barnes Whitlock passed away in her home surrounded by family on January 15, 2021 at the age of 84. She was born on August 14, 1936 in San Angelo, Texas to Earl Burt Barnes and Nannie May DuBose Barnes. Gracie loved clothes, yard sales, jewelry, and cookbooks. She was well known for her love of plants and her green thumb. She worked at Ethicon for more than 20 years before retiring. Gracie loved spending time with her loving family and is preceded in death by her loving husband James Whitlock Sr. of 53 years; her parents Earl and Nannie Barnes; brothers Earl, Carl, and Curtis Barnes; and sister Lillian Clark. She is survived by daughter Beverly Watkins of Everman, TX, daughter and son-in-law Patricia & Ricky Williford of San Angelo, TX, son Richard Whitlock of Leaky, TX, son and daughter-in-law Curtis & Karen Whitlock of San Angelo, TX, son James Whitlock Jr of San Angelo, TX; her sisters Bertie Mason and Floy Porter of San Angelo, TX; grandson and wife Wayne & Kim Williford, granddaughter and husband Kimberly & Bryan Skelton, Jenny & Daniell Watkins, Richard Jr & Dustin Whitlock, Emily & Zane Whitlock, Jarred & Zach Whitlock; 14 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; her cherished dog and best mate Cowboy; as well as many other family and friends. The family would like to thank Dr. King, Dr. Catherine Barnett, and the ICU nurses at Shannon. A special thanks to the nurses and staff at the West Texas Rehab hospice of San Angelo especially Becca, Debbie, and Chaplain Scott for the loving care of our mother. Celebration of life will be held on Saturday January 30, 2021 at 2:30pm at Harper Funeral Home in San Angelo, Texas at 2606 Southland Blvd. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choosing in her memory.
