Janie P. Fuentes of San Angelo went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 1, 2016 surrounded by her family at the age of 93. The Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Harper Funeral Home. Janie was born March 31, 1923 in Pearsall, Texas to Marcos and Brigida Flores Palacios. She married Alberto Castro Fuentes, Sr. on September 3, 1951 and they shared 46 beautiful years of marriage together before he preceded her in death in 1997. Janie worked as a personal dress consultant at Franklin’s Dress Shop on Chadbourne Street for many years and enjoyed assisting people in her community to dress for all occasions. Janie loved being outdoors and growing flowers in her garden and cooking for her family. Most of all she enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren, who would fain illness just to stay home from school to enjoy “Grannie’s” famous cinnamon toast. Janie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who devoted her life to her family. Her love and life will live on in our hearts forever! Janie was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Feliz Perez and Julia Hernandez, brother Marcos Palacios, her husband Alberto, daughter, Linda Joy Cedillo, and granddaughter, Sara Olivares. She is survived by her brother Tomas Palacios and wife Dahlia, children, Albert Fuentes, Jr. and his wife Sylvia, of San Angelo, Rebecca (Becki) Olivares, of San Antonio, Vicki (BB) Fuentes and her husband, Emmanuil, of Round Rock, Yolanda Recalde and her husband Victor, of Dallas, Micky Plata and his wife Rosa, of Los Angeles, California and David Garcia, of San Angelo; 15 Grandchildren; and numerous Great Grandchildren. A very special thank you to her caring roommate and “bingo buddy” at Senior Care, Geneva Bloodworth. A heartfelt thanks to Dr. Cornell, Dr. Brown, Dr. Hernandez of Shannon Hospital and Kari Renfroe in ICU for their care and compassion in her final hours. Private Graveside services will be held by the family. Janie will be escorted by her grandchildren, Christopher Fuentes, Ryan Fuentes, Isaac Olivares, Daniel Olivares, Stephanie Moreno, and Stacey Fuentes to her interment.
