Jose L. Cervantes Luna

Jose Luis Cervantes Luna, age 65, went to serve the Lord peacefully at his home in Big Lake TX, Monday August 28, 2017. Jose was born in San Carlos, Coahuila on July 24, 1952 to Luis and Maria Luna Cervantes. Jose married his wife Paula on May 10th, 1971. In 1978 he moved his family to settle in Big Lake TX, where he spent the remainder of his life. Jose worked as a Derrikman on pulling units until he retired in 2004 due to health issues. He was given a second chance at life when he received his donated kidney in 2006. He is survived by his devoted wife of 46 years Paula Cervantes, daughter Sylvia Marquez and husband Mario (of Pipe Creek, TX), daughter Laura Cervantes (of San Angelo, TX), son Juan Jose Cervantes (of Big Lake TX), son Arturo Cervantes and wife Angelique (of San Angelo TX), son Armando Cervantes and wife Alma (of Big Lake), son Ernesto Cervantes and wife Melissa (of Big Lake), son Jose Cervantes Jr. and wife Karissa (of Big Lake). Also sixteen grandchildren will miss him dearly as well as his siblings Marcelina Trevino, Maria Maldonado, Eluteria Narvaez, Juanita Perez and Javier Cervantes. Many nephews and nieces and countless friends and extended family will be mourning his passing. Jose is proceeded in death by his son Jorge Luis Cervantes and his brother Patricio Cervantes. Viewing will be held at Harper Funeral Home, 2606 Southland Blvd, San Angelo, TX Wednesday August 30th from 8am to 8pm. A rosary will take place at St. Margaret of Cortona Catholic Church in Big Lake TX on Thursday August 31st at 7pm (arriving at noon). A mass will be offered Friday, September 1st at St. Margaret of Cortona Catholic Church in Big Lake TX at 10:30am, following grave site services immediately at Glen Rest Cemetery in Big Lake TX. Memorials may be given to any of his children and are greatly appreciated. The Cervantes family will like to extend our sincere thanks to all the staff from Hospice of San Angelo, the nurses and doctors at Shannon Hospital, neighbors, friends and family.
