Josie Laverne Brown

March 2, 1931 — September 30, 2018

Josie Schnaubert Brown, 87, of San Angelo, Texas, peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 30, 2018. She is survived by her daughter Reva Jo Gilian and husband Craig of Emeryville, California. Born March 2, 1931 in McCamey, Texas to Arthur Francis and Allie Flois Schnaubert, Josie grew up there, and graduated from McCamey High in 1949. A year later, she married Harold L. Brown, also of McCamey. They moved to Amarillo where Harold was stationed in the Air Force, and where Reva was born to them in 1952. The family then returned to McCamey, where Harold owned and operated the Mobil station there for nearly twenty years. In 1971, Harold and Josie moved to San Angelo where they owned and operated the Exxon station at Loop 306 and Knickerbocker Road. Josie was often there daily in the busy hours helping customers at the register. Harold retired after a little over twenty years service at this location. The couple then relaxed, traveled, and enjoyed life. Harold preceded her in death in 2017. Josie was a sweet, loving wife and mother, with a keen sense of humor. She loved learning and had a passion for research and, being very proud of her West Texas roots, served in the county libraries in both McCamey and San Angelo. Another delight in her life was birds. She watched and cared for wild birds, and there was seldom a bird who left her yard patio hungry or thirsty. The family would like to sincerely thank the kind, thoughtful & loving care givers who stayed with Josie up to her last days. A private memorial will be planned for a later date. Please feel free to share a memory by contacting Harper Funeral Home, San Angelo, Texas.
