June Morse Izzard

June 17, 1921 — August 28, 2016

Our precious Sweetie, June Gwendolyn Morse Izzard, moved to her heavenly home on Monday morning, August 29, 2016 in San Angelo, Texas at the age of 95 years. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, and friend. June was born June 17, 1921 in Ft. Stockton, Texas to Vernie Lee and June Dawson Morse. She lived most of her life in San Angelo, graduating from San Angelo Senior High School and San Angelo College. As a young woman, she was active in school, loved hanging out with many girlfriends and enjoyed being a part of the pep squad and the tumbling team. She married Wm. L. (Dub) Izzard, the love of her life, on June 17, 1946. They celebrated 61 years of marriage, living all their married life in San Angelo, Tx. Their love affair began when they were both employed at the old San Angelo National Bank. Early in her marriage, June worked along side Dub in the concession stand at Guinn Field, the original home of the San Angelo Colts baseball team, eventually saving enough to build a home and raise a family. June was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church. She also enjoyed worshiping with her daughter at Glen Meadows Baptist Church and attending the Joy class. Her various employments included the Special Education department in San Angelo Independent School District and later General Telephone and Telegraph. Our Sweetie was a beautiful woman who lived a long and meaningful life centered around her faith and her family. She was fun, vivacious and had a wonderful sense of humor, making friends wherever she went. She spent her life involved in scouting, PTA, Bobcat Boosters, teaching Sunday school classes, and supporting her children in all their many church, school and extra-curricular activities. In later years, her greatest pleasure was staying involved in her grandchildren’s lives. She enjoyed learning and encouraged her children and grandchildren to be avid participants in furthering their educations beyond high school graduation. She took great pleasure in loving her children’s spouses as her own. June was preceded in death by her parents, Vernie Lee and June Morse; one brother, Dawson Morse; her sister, Ruby Geraldine Leakey; her husband, Wm. L. (Dub) Izzard,; and one granddaughter, Anne Bahlman Gouak. She is survived by one brother, V.L. Morse and wife Evelyn of South Carolina; one son, Dr. Rudy Izzard and wife Janice of San Antonio, Tx.; and three daughters, Kande Bahlman and husband Danny of San Angelo, Tx.; Jeffri Long of San Angelo, Tx,;and Jill Sheppard and husband Ben of Austin, Tx.
