Kathy Ruth Allen

Kathy Ruth (Melnar) Allen, 72, of San Angelo, TX went to be with her heavenly Father on Monday, January 2, 2017. Kathy was born February 11, 1944 in Ganado, TX to Jim and Irma Melnar. She grew up in San Angelo and graduated from San Angelo Central in 1962. Kathy married the love of her life, Weldon Joe Allen on December 22, 1962 at Sacred Heart Cathedral. They shared 54 loving years together. They are members of Holy Angels Catholic Church. She worked for Lone Star Gas Company for 3 years; then devoted the rest of her life to her family. Kathy was a wonderful homemaker, enjoyed sewing and cooking, and had a green thumb for her plants. She volunteered at schools, churches, rodeo exhibits and anywhere that she was needed. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Irma. She is survived by her husband Weldon Allen; her children Kara Hoelscher and husband Carl, Joey Allen, Tammy Childers and husband Cody; 5 grandchildren, Katelyn and Austin Hoelscher, Kyle and Cooper Allen, Mikayla Childers; sister Carolyn Vick and husband PeeWee; brothers-in-law Bobby Allen and wife Cecilia, Stacey Allen and wife Melody, Louis Watson and wife Pat; sister-in-law Barbara Euler; many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Kathy’s family would like to thank the nurses and caregivers at The Springs Memory Care and Kindred Hospice. We express our deepest gratitude for Jazz Jackson, Jazz Ramirez, Abigail Ramirez, Sandra Peace, and Lucy Meeks. The rosary will be held Wednesday, January 4, at 6:00 pm at Harper Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 5, at 10:00 am at Holy Angels Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Austin Hoelscher, Bobby Allen, Johnny Meeks, Larry Zapata, Jimmy VonGotten and Duane Drew.
