Larry J. Barnes

Lawrence J. Barnes, 87, passed away September 13, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Larry was born to Lawrence and Florence Barnes in Albion Nebraska on April 3, 1930. Larry grew up in Albion and attended school graduating from Albion High School. After graduating high school he joined the Air Force moving around the country eventually getting stationed at Goodfellow Air Force Base where he would stay the remainder of his time in the service. After his honorable discharge from the Air Force Larry went to the University of Texas for Accounting. He graduated with his degree and became a CPA moving back to San Angelo to work. Larry worked at a couple different CPA offices before opening his own practice L.J. Barnes CPA. Mr. Barnes married the love of his life Joyce Coleman on November 6, 1964. Larry built Remote Control air planes as a hobby and even helped start the Air Strip for the remote-controlled planes here in San Angelo. Mr. Barnes is preceded in death by his Parents, Sister Nina Carnahan, and brother Kenneth Barnes, Sons Gerald Coleman and David Barnes, and Grandson Shane Coleman. Mr. Barnes is survived by his wife of 53 years Joyce Barnes of San Angelo; Sons Steven Barnes and wife Nancy; and Gary Coleman of San Angelo; Grandson Todd Coleman and wife Trixy of San Angelo, Granddaughters Lindsay Barnes of Carrillo California and Christie Coleman of San Angelo; great-grandkids Ashtyn Gillie of Austin, Justin Coleman of Abilene, Devon Franks of Denton, Drew Barber of Bakersfield, California, Devo Coleman of San Angelo and Arysta Coleman of San Angelo, Noah Nelson; Daughter-in-law Paulette Coleman of San Angelo. Two Brothers Bob and his wife Dawn Barnes and Nick Barnes, also a Sister Karol Bruce Leisy. A Visitation will be held at Harper Funeral Home from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on September 15, 2017. A Graveside service will be held at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens at 10:00 AM on September 16, 2017.
