Margaret "Peggy" Johnson

October 11, 1929 — May 30, 2017

Margaret “Peggy” Johnson, 87, of San Angelo went to be with her heavenly Father on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 in San Angelo. Peggy was born October 11, 1929 in Hackensack, New Jersey to Bernard Joseph Morchen, Jr. and Marie Harty Morchen. She grew up in New Jersey and graduated from high school there. At a young age, she sang beautifully and won many contests for her singing and received recognition for her talent. Peggy brought this into her adult life and was asked to sing at numerous weddings and considered it an honor to do so. She and her family bought a farm and settled in Sweetwater in 1955. In 1980, she moved to San Angelo, where she met and later married Robert L. “Bobby” Johnson and they shared 37 beautiful years together. Peggy became a Licensed Vocational Nurse(LVN) and worked in the health care industry for many years. She was also a loving and caring homemaker, and enjoyed being with her family and cooking for them. Her other interests included playing bridge, being a member of the New Timer’s Bridge Club, dancing, quilting and growing and gardening her beautiful Irises. She was a very active member of Holy Angels Catholic Church where she was a Holy Angel’s Tribunal Advocate, a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Altar Society. Peggy had an incredible faith and love of the Lord and loved helping people through her church. She had a strong spirit and an amazing perseverance when it came to her family and her life. Peggy’s love of her family and friends will live on in our hearts forever and she will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bobby, her son, Christopher Matthew Zachry and one brother Bernard Joseph Morchen, III. Peggy is survived by her daughter, Debbie Kelley and her husband Larry, of San Angelo; her Grandchildren, Kevin Kelley and his fiancée Sierra, and Stacy Kelley and his wife Becca, all of San Angelo; her Great Grandchildren, Autumn, Patrick, Hayden, John and Paisley. She is also survived by her niece, Elieen Waddell and her nephew Brian Morchen. The rosary will be 6:00 P.M., Friday, June 2, 2017 at Harper Funeral Home Chapel.
