Martha Julia Dolan

Martha Julia Dolan “Curly”, our beautiful loving mother, went peacefully to eternal rest on March 13, 2016. She was born in Arcadia, Florida on June 28, 1918 to John and Lina Christ. Martha came to west Texas in 1940 after she married Wayne Dolan in Wauchula, Florida. She was a founding charter member of The First Presbyterian Church of Big Lake, where she was a pianist for 55 years. She was also a member of the Ladies Study Club, a Past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star, and she was awarded “Citizen of The Year” for all her civic duties. Curly loved to pass her time with the following hobbies; gardening, embroidery, making ceramic dolls and traveling with the Trail Blazers. She retired after 25 years as a book keeper of West Texas Utilities in Big Lake, TX. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 41 Years Wayne Dolan, her parents, five brothers and sisters, her daughter Olivia Lois Dolan, and granddaughter Angie Dolan Gryder. She is survived by her six children, Martha Yarbro, of San Angelo, Waynette Dolan, of Cibolo, TX, John and Susan Dolan of Spring Branch, Mike and Kathy Dolan, of Mertzon, Sue Davidson, of Liberty Hill, Bill and Sue Dolan, of Midland and a special friend, Jan Baldwin, of Cibolo, TX. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. The Graveside Service will be 1:00 P.M., Friday, March 18, 2016 at Glen Rest Cemetery in Big Lake with Rev. Dr. Roger Sidener officiating. The family wishes to thank the following organizations for caring for our mother in her final days, Shannon Medical Center, Meadow Creek Nursing Center and San Angelo Home Health Care. In lieu of flowers, the following memorials can be made to Methodist Assistance at the First United Methodist Church in San Angelo, Texas or a charity of your choice.
