Mary Lou Kimbrell passed away quietly on Sunday, October 25, 2020 in San Angelo, Texas. Born, at home, “Mary Lourdes Nieto” on May 21, 1933 to Edward and Estell Nieto of Roswell, New Mexico. She grew up with her 5 siblings in a loving, supportive environment. As a teenager, she worked in the orchards in the San Joaquin Valley, California and later, as a beloved nanny. She met her husband and the love of her life, James N. Kimbrell of Picacho, New Mexico and married on October 4, 1958 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Roswell. The Next 25 years, as the spouse of an Air Force NCO, she traveled the world, while raising 4 children to be loving, respectful and caring individuals. Traveling, with family in hand, to such places as New York, Japan, Germany, Taiwan, Turkey, New Mexico, California, and Maryland. Their final settling spot, and last move, was in 1976 to San Angelo, Texas. The next 30 years were the same, as well as different, for our Mother. She continued to provide a stable, loving and nurturing home, not only for us children and our dad, but also for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She worked making her legendary desserts for Luby’s Cafeteria, and then 20 years for Walmart Customer Service. She worked, not for the money, but “to stay active and help others.” Like many Hispanic Mothers, she derived personal joy in seeing us eat and enjoy ourselves; and NO ONE missed a meal or dessert if they heard “Mary Lou made it!” She never spoke ill of others. She loved music and singing, and never missed a chance to dance. She could be a Chatter Box, but that only meant she loved you. She had a memory of a steel trap and a great loving heart. She was a role model, without even trying. Her shoes will be impossible to fill! Mary is preceded in death by her father and mother, Edward and Estell Nieto, siblings Anita Chavez, Emma Rodriguez and Richard Nieto and her Beloved Husband James Neal Kimbrell. Mary is survived by her children Patrick and spouse Diana Kimbrell, Edward Kimbrell, Nina Kimbrell and partner Ronnie Mesa and Michelle Kimbrell. Brothers and sisters include Rita Romero and Ramon Romero. Brothers/sisters-in-law include Alberta Solfisburg, Kathleen Reno, Michael Kimbrell, and William Kimbrell. Grandchildren include Albert Kimbrell, Jordan Kimbrell, Cherie and spouse Brien Toombs, Aidan Stephens, Sophia Kimbrell, and Cannon Hill. Great-grandchildren include Braden Faz, Guy Harlan, Mason Toombs, Weston Toombs and Adalyn Toombs. The Family will be receiving friends on Thursday October 29th from 6pm-8pm at Harper Funeral Home, 2606 Southland Blvd, San Angelo, TX 76904. Services will be planned for Mary in Picacho, New Mexico in the spring where her final resting place will be beside her husband James.
