Michael “Mike” Cavanaugh passed away Friday, September 9, 2016. Mike was born to Francis and Ruthearl Cavanaugh on May 14, 1954 in Rapid City South Dakota. After high school Mike joined the Air Force for many years before being honorably discharged. Mike worked with electronics in the Air Force and continued repairing them once he left. Mike had a passion for scuba diving, becoming a dive instructor and eventually became certified to train handicap and even quadriplegic divers. Mike’s other passion was firearms teaching classes on how to safely and properly use them. He taught concealed handgun classes at Odin Firearms. He was also an active member of The Combat Veteran’s Outreach program here in San Angelo. Mr. Cavanaugh is preceded in death by his parents, and one brother David Cavanaugh. Mike is survived by two brothers James and Stephen Cavanaugh, many nieces and nephews, a host of friends he considered family who he taught as a diving instructor and through his Concealed Handgun Course.
