Nancy K Shields

First child of Gladys Thomas Shields and W.W. Shields of Roscoe, Texas, passed from this life at Shannon Hospital, San Angelo, Texas on Monday, February 10, 2025. She was proceeded in death by her parents and a beloved niece, Sarah Lucile Shields. She is survived by her brother, John Thomas Shields and wife, Tanya Salvato Shields, her niece Nancy Arinda Shields Kosub, her husband Matthew and their children Noah Matthew and Violet Sarah Kosub, her nephew William Thomas Shields, his wife Jamie Lee Kuehl Shields and their children John Luke and Emma Rowan Shields.

Nancy K was a graduate of Roscoe High School. She became a student at University of Texas at age 16. She was also a student at the Sorbonne in Paris, Washington University and the University of Wisconsin. She was a professor of Comparative English Literature. She spoke both French and Japanese. For several years she traveled under the auspices of the Ford Foundation. Her last sponsored international travel was for the University of Texas Chemistry Department collecting water samples from lost cultures in the Gobi Desert.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to your favorite charity or the Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas, Texas.
