Robert Edward Visney

Robert Edward Visney, 71, of San Angelo went to be with the Lord on March 18th in San Angelo. Robert was born December 3, 1944 in Galesburg, Illinois to Rudolph Edward and Jeannette Bray Visney, but always considered himself a Texan as he was raised in Fort Worth. He graduated from California Polytechnic (Cal Poly) State University San Luis Obispo in 1974 with a Bachelor of Arts in Animal Science. Robert served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps for 5 years. He married Martha R. Galindo on March 23, 1972 in El Centro, CA and they shared 44 wonderful years together. Robert worked as a Conductor for the Santa Fe Railroad, retiring after 33 years in 2008. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who devoted his life to his family. Robert had a great wit about him and enjoyed laughing and sarcasm. In his spare time, he loved watching football, especially the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and OU. He also loved watching FOX News and traveling to Casinos whenever he could. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family and his grandson Cash, who brought him so much joy. Robert’s legacy of love will live on in our hearts forever, and we will dearly miss him! His spirit of love and care led him to request his body be donated to Texas Tech to benefit others through scientific research. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Martha Visney, of San Angelo; his children, Sydney Weaver and her husband Brian, and Ross Visney and Kacey Jenkins, all of San Angelo; his grandson, Cash “Santo” Visney, of San Angelo; his brother, David Visney and his wife JoAnn, of South Lake, TX; and his sister Liz Lofgren and her husband Art, of El Centro, CA. The Memorial Service will be 6:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Harper Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Walt Landers officiating. The family requests that memorials be made to the Children’s Miracle Network and Hospice of San Angelo, Inc. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Cummings and staff, as well as Hospice of San Angelo for their efforts in caring for Robert.
