Roger Dale Smith

Roger Dale Smith, 82, of San Angelo, Texas was called to his heavenly home on Wednesday, June 26, 2024. Roger was born on September 12, 1941, in Santa Anna, Texas to Otho and Irene (Carpenter) Smith. The family lived in Coleman County and later moved to San Angelo, Tom Green County where they made their home. Roger attended Lakeview High School.

Roger married the love of his life, Donna Sue Childress on April 8, 1959. Together they raised two children, Greg and Jeff – and were blessed with three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Roger was a Master Plumber, a Mechanic, and worked later in life at O’Reilly Auto Parts until his retirement at the age of 80 years old.

Roger’s real passion and love was Auto Racing. There was not a weekend that you would not find him at the Racetrack with family and friends doing what he loved the most.

Roger is preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law Jesse and Winnie Strickler, and younger brother Gary Smith. Roger is survived by his wife Donna of San Angelo along with sons Greg Smith of San Angelo, and Jeff Smith and his wife Sharon of Corpus Christi, Texas; grandsons, Colby Smith and his wife Ashley of Pueblo, Colorado, Justin Smith and his wife Mariah of San Angelo, Texas, and Cameron Smith and his wife Emily of Portland, Texas; great-grandchildren Zoe and Gavin Smith of Pueblo, Colorado, Mallory Smith of San Angelo, Texas, Garrett, Hayden, and Walen Smith of Portland, Texas; sister, Joyce Carr and her husband Bob of San Angelo, Texas; brother, Daymon and his wife Beth of San Angelo, Texas.

A celebration of life will be held at Harper Funeral Home on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at 10:00am.
