Rosemary Earnest Baker

April 6, 1937 — January 31, 2025

Rosemary Earnest Baker of Grape Creek, Texas passed from this earth surrounded by family on January 31, 2025, at the age of 87. Graveside services will be Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Grape Creek Cemetery under the direction of Harper Funeral Home. Officiating will be her oldest grandson, Joshua Baker. There will be a visitation time with the family following the graveside at Grape Creek Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.

Rosemary was born in Del Rio, Texas on April 6, 1937, to John David and Eileen Earnest. Rosey, as she was known to many, grew up in East Texas and the San Angelo area. She attended Water Valley High School where she met the love of her life, Wayne Baker. They were married on January 7, 1956 at Lake View Baptist Church.

Rosey was preceded in death by her parents, John David and Eileen Earnest, her in-laws Worth and Patsy Baker, and her sisters Joyce McNeil and Dorothy Lane.

Rosey was a loving and dedicated wife to Wayne, and mother to their three children, Daniel, Denise, and Trudy.

Rosey and Wayne moved and settled their family in Grape Creek. Rosey’s priority was always her family. She was an amazing cook and loved all things chocolate. She was intentional in creating a loving home for her children. She was always someone’s room mother, helping with science projects and creating fun. Rosey was a member of the Grape Creek Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, and taught Vacation Bible School. She worked at San Angelo National Bank in the bookkeeping department for several years. After her children were grown, Rosey chose to work part time at the Grape Creek Baptist Church Daycare where she continued to love children just like they were her own.

Rosemary is survived by her husband of 69 years, Wayne, her son, Daniel Baker and wife, Loann, daughter Denise Untermeyer and husband, Ted, daughter Trudy Simpson and husband, Frank. She was called Mema by her eleven grandchildren, Joshua Baker and wife, Kelly, Jessica Boling and husband Clayton, Starr Long and husband, Nathanial, Elayne Widener, John David Baker and wife, Sarah, Eli Untermeyer and Karlee Untermeyer, who will all serve as honorary pallbearers. Also, eleven great grandchildren, Elsie, Bowen and Mae Baker, Sutton, Luke and Zhenae Boling, Hudson and Marin Long, June and Judd Widener and Ella Baker. She is also survived by a very special sister-in-law, Karen Stuart, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Anyone who married into her family was instantly another son or daughter and never just an in-law. Her endearing legacy is evident in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. All of their childhoods are well documented because of Rosey’s love of photography. She was jokingly called “Grandma Flash”.

Because of her great love for children, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the Grape Creek Baptist Church Daycare, ℅ Diane James, 9781 N. Grape Creek Road, San Angelo, Texas 76901.
