Sybil Day Connell

Sybil Day Connell, 80, of San Angelo, Texas, went to be with the Lord at 7:30 am on November 30, 2016. Beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, she was preceded in death by her first husband of 20 years, Dean Cope; brother Carroll Day; sister Jackie Day Mayfield and her husband Richard; brother-in-law Earl Maxwell; sons Dennis Cope and Clayton Cope and Clayton’s wife Starla; and parents James E. and Julia Day, all of San Angelo. Sybil is survived by her current husband of 38 years, Kenneth Connell; four sons: Clifford Cope and his wife Edwina of Odessa, Texas; Kylan Cope and his wife Dena of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Cody Cope of Amarillo, Texas; Kirby Cope and his wife Christy of Kaufman, Texas; and one daughter, Karen Cope Capps and her husband Kenneth of Kaufman, Texas. She is also survived by her twin sister, Sylvia Maxwell, of San Angelo; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and her nieces and nephews and their children. Sybil was born in San Angelo, Texas on November 29, 1936, and graduated from Lakeview High School in 1955. She and her twin sister Sylvia celebrated their 80th birthday together one day prior to Sybil’s passing. Devoted to serving the Lord and her family, Sybil was a homemaker and was the organist at Lakeview Baptist Church for over 20 years. For the past 14 years, she and her husband Kenneth resided in the Patio Homes at the Rio Concho Manor in San Angelo. Visitation and celebration of Sybil’s life will be held from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm on Friday, December 2, at Harper Funeral Home in San Angelo. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, December 3 at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
