Virginia Elise Wright

Virginia Elise Wright, 79, of San Angelo went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 25, 2018 in San Angelo. Virginia was born October 16, 1938 in Wichita, KS to Velderee and Minnie Lansdowne McClurg. She grew up in Wichita, KS. Virginia and married Billy Don Wright on May 29, 1957 in Wichita, Kansas. As the wife of a minister, they lived in different cities all over but spent most of their lives in the Brownwood area and eventually settled in San Angelo after retirement. Virginia was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who devoted her life to her family. She was a strong Christian woman of faith in God and was very involved in her church. She was also an extremely hard-working woman who spent many years on an assembly line in the Kohler Plant to help support her family when her husband became disabled. When Virginia was not working or volunteering at church, she loved sewing, reading, singing, and had a true passion for gardening. Most of all, she loved talking and sharing stories with people and spending time with her family. She will dearly be missed by all who knew and loved her. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Billy Don, her son, Larry Wright and her grandson, Robert Carter. She is survived by her children, William Wright, of Savannah, GA, David Wright and his wife Susan, of San Angelo, Johnny Wright, of Huntsville, TX., and Kathleen Carter and Donald Sterrett, of Jefferson, TX; 8 Grandchildren; 7 Great Grandchildren; one Sister, Cindy Diamond and her husband Marty, of Hallsville, TX; one Brother, Lloyd McClurg, of Hallsville, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews, other family members and close friends. A celebration of her life will be at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, January 28, 2018 at Harper Funeral Home with Russ Frazier officiating.
