Our beloved Mother and matriarch of the family, Willie Lou Carr, went to live with our Lord and Savior on October 1, 2024. She had been hospitalized since July with several medical issues.
Willie was full of life, love and laughter and was especially resilient. She loved nothing better than to be surrounded by family and friends and entertaining in her home. Her family was her passion.
Willie was born November 2nd, 1927, to Henry Edward Pullin & Nellie Ruth (Joliff) Pullin, in El Reno, OK. She was the oldest of 7 children and is survived by her brother, Denzil Kenwood Pullen, and sister, Cleta Irene Livingston. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Wesley David Pullin, Bobby Gene Pullin and sisters Teresa Ann Gorman and Beatrice Mae Arnold. She is survived by two daughters, Frankie (Jim) Newsom and Linda O'Donnell. Willie lost her only son, Cecil Curtis McKinney to Vietnam in October of 1968. She has five surviving grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren.
Willie loved quilting, sewing and made many very intricate beautiful quilts. She made sure everyone had their favorites. The only thing she enjoyed more than her family was her beloved dogs. Her sweet Brooks was her very best friend, never leaving her side. He slept with her, ate with her and followed her around every minute of the day! A huge thank you to Bea, caretaker of the year, who made sure Willie had anything she needed!
Services will be held at The San Angelo Cowboy Church on Chadbourne at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 5th. Following the service, the burial will be in Midland, TX at Resthaven Memorial Park at 1:00 where she will be laid to rest next to the love of her life, Billy L. Carr.
